ST. JOHN, THE APOSTLE THE PATRON

The founder, Mr. Victor Kerketta, prayed to Jesus, the greatest teacher of all time, for help and inspiration in naming the school. After much prayer and reflection, he felt that St. John, the Evangelist—the Beloved Virgin Apostle of Jesus—should be the Patron Saint. He therefore named the institution St. John’s School, English Medium, Simdega.Jesus loved St. John so deeply that He entrusted him to His mother, Mary. Jesus also loved children and said, “Let the children come to me.” This divine love, which unites humanity with God, was profoundly experienced by St. John.St. John, the son of Zebedee and the brother of St. James the Apostle, was called personally by Jesus. He left his boat and his father to follow Him. He listened to Jesus, the eternal Source of Wisdom.St. John, the Virgin Apostle, is crowned with holiness. He conquered worldly desires and, for this reason, became the beloved disciple of Jesus.John was very close to Jesus at the Last Supper. Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him when He began to feel deeply troubled and distressed.St. John wrote the Fourth Gospel, three Epistles, and the Apocalypse (the Book of Revelation). He wrote about the Divinity of the WORD made flesh, and for this reason, the Virgin Apostle is symbolised by the eagle.St. John the Evangelist departed this life at Ephesus in 101 AD.
