Mr. Victor Kerketta, son of the late Mr. Ignace Kerketta and Mrs. Secunda Lakra, was born in the village Sirghaghtoli, P.O. Kersai, Parish Tainser, P.S. Kersai, District Simdega (Jharkhand). He was educated in Boys’ Middle School, Tainser; Apostolic School, Samtoli; St. Xavier's College, Ranchi; St. Stanislaus College, Sitagarha, Hazaribagh; De Nobili College, Pune; and Tarunoday, Borea, Ranchi. He taught in St. Ignatius' High School, Gumla, and St. Mary's High School, Samtoli, and served as the in-charge of “Atmanirbhar.”He started St. John's School (English Medium) at Simdega on 15 July 1991. Before initiating the school, he was convinced that he would be able to dispel the darkness of illiteracy to some extent. In the twenty-eight years since its inception, there has been a significant change in the education sector, which is evident in the level of awareness brought about by St. John's School among the people of Simdega. The school has now set a new benchmark in providing quality education and pursuing excellence in Simdega district and remains committed to this mission.Besides formal education, the founder has a vision to contribute to the field of rural development, aiming to cater to the rights and empowerment of the poor, marginalised, and downtrodden. For this reason, SJES plans to venture into this field in the days to come. The new venture, titled “We Survive Together,” focuses on working with the local people by entering the farming sector and involving them in cultivating commercial crops and other income-generating activities for better production and marketing.The journey that began on 15 July 1991 has come a long way and has reached an important milestone, from where it aims to reach out to more and more people while remaining committed to the cause of development and the pursuit of excellence.May God be the inspiration and guide to the founder and the society members, helping them fulfil this vision for the holistic development of the people and the place.
